Anantara Seminyak Resort & Spa reflects Anantara’s roots in the beautiful country of Thailand and beyond at its Wild Orchid restaurant, and every Wednesday night showcases this delicious diversity in a unique “Taste of Asia” evening buffet, complete with captivating entertainment.
Nestling trendy Seminyak Beach, Anantara’s boutique hideaway offers guests a coveted jet setter lifestyle, and at the same time infuses indigenous aspects to enrich their overall experience. Wild Orchid’s “Taste of Asia” Wednesday buffet night is a wonderful example of this concept, offering a harmonious integration of Anantara’s exotic Thai heritage, Bali’s colourful local touches and eclectic Asian influences, presented with exquisite international flair.
Wild Orchid’s distinctive Thai décor of a regal purple and gold colour scheme contrasts with a dramatic Indian Ocean backdrop. Neo-authentic design is matched by a culinary repertoire dedicated to Thailand’s regional diversity, fragrant herbs and exotic spices, to deliver the Kingdom’s famous balance of four flavours; hot, sweet, sour and salty, which have risen in popularity to become revered all over the world. Accompanying the traditional Thai cuisine, broader Asian culinary styles hail from China, Japan, Vietnam, Mongolia, and of course right here in Bali, culminating in flavourful diversity. An open kitchen adds to the sensual vibrancy by allowing diners to watch the experienced Thai chefs in action. While to accentuate the “Taste of Asia” theme, a sequence of four Balinese dances is performed, adding visual drama and cultural grace.
“Taste of Asia” appetisers include oriental inspired tempura treats, served with sweet, fruity and spicy sauces, as well as sushi delicacies of international fame. From Thailand, an original green mango salad is joined by the kingdom’s signature hot and sour soup which blends a delicious medley of lemongrass, galangal, chili, shallots, mushrooms, lime juice and coriander.
Cooked to order Mongolian wok dishes of roasted meats and fresh vegetables vie for attention with mixed satay selections of beef, chicken and lamb kofta served with peanut sauce and acar, as well as rich curries that include southern Thailand’s bountiful seafood recipes and northern meat specialties, topped up by eggplant and long beans, and brought to life by basil, lime leaf and chili.
An impressive dessert counter presents an authentic sweet conclusion to the Asian culinary journey, with deep fried fritters, sticky rice and pan fried puddings utilising bananas, mangos, coconuts and creamy coconut milk, to be drizzled with an array of syrups.
The Wednesday “Taste of Asia” Buffet is priced at IDR 350,000++/person.
